GARAM MASALA
Garam masala is a staple spice in Pakistani Food Recipes.You can sprinkle in curry a little for a new aromatic spicy flavor. No doubt All Spice Powder is an important element of South Asian cuisine.
PREPARATION TIME: 10 mins COOKING TIME: 5 mins
Cloves 1 tbsp
Coriander seeds 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds 2 & 1/2 tbsp
Black peppercorns 2 tbsp
Star anise 4-5
Black cardamom 7-8
Cinnamon sticks 12-15
Nutmeg 2
Green cardamom 20-22
bay leaves 6-8
Mace 1 & 1/2 tbsp
Caraway seeds 1 tbsp
Dried fenugreek leaves 2 tbsp
METHOD
- In frying pan,add cloves,coriander seeds,cumin seeds and black peppercorns,dry roast until aromatic & light brown and take out in a bowl.
- In frying pan,add star anise,black cardamom,cinnamon sticks,nutmeg,green cardamom, and bay leaves,dry roast until aromatic & take out in a bowl.
- In frying pan,add mace,caraway seeds,dried fenugreek leaves,dry roast until aromatic & take out in a bowl.
- In spice mixer,add roasted spices and grind to make a fine powder.
- Garam masala powder is ready!
- Can be stored in air tight container for up to 2 months.
NOTE:
for Garam masala correct ratio of these spices is very important.
