 CHICKPEAS OR CHANA CHAAT

 CHAAT – THE CHATPATA FOOD means the combination of crispy, crunchy, spicy, salty, sweet and tangy taste doesn’t need any introduction!   

  Chaats like papdi channa Chaat, Aloo chaat, Dahi Bhalla etc...Chana Chat is an easy and traditional cooking recipe to prepare at home. Chana Chaat is a Ramadan favorite side dish that is healthy and extremely delicious to eat, especially after a long day’s fast. It can be served as a side dish or even as an appetizer. To mkae this chaat, boiled chickpeas (or canned) with boiled potato, tomato, onion, tamarind and date chutney, green coriander chutney, chaat masala powder, yogurt, red chilli powder, and then garnished with papdi, or bondi and coriander.




PREPARATION TIME: 20 mins                 SERVING: 8

INGREDIENTS

Chickpeas boiled 2 Cup soak overnight & boil
Onions chopped 2
Potato boil chopped  3
Tomato chopped 2 
Cucumber chopped 1/2 cup (optional)
Green chillies chopped 3 or (according to your taste )
Yogurt whisk 1 cup 
Tamarind chutney 4 tbsp  or (according to your taste )
Green chutney 4 tbsp or (according to your taste )
Chaat masala (as required)
Red chilli powder 1/4 tsp
Papdi or Bondi (as required)
Green coriander for garnish
salt 14 tsp
Lemon juice 1 tbsp

METHOD

  • In a small bowel add yogurt,red chilli powder, chat masala and salt mix it well and set aside.
  • In a large bowel add chickpeas,or chana, boil potato, cucumber, onion,tomato, green chutney, tamarind chutney, green chillies, lemon juice, chat masala and coriander and gently toss and mix ingredients.
  • In a serving plate,add chana chat,top with prepared yogurt mixture and tamarind chutney, or green chutney, garnish with coriander, bondi or papdi, and sprinkle some chat masala, and red chilli powder. 
  • your chart is ready and ENJOY!   
NOTE:
  • To serve this chaat in the party or ramadan, mix all the ingredients except for the bondi or papdi and keep it in a large bowl or individual serving bowls. Either garnish with bondi or papdi  just before the serving or serve as it is.
