BUN KABAB (FAMOUS KARACHI STREET FOOD)

Lets try the delicious & famous Karachi street food Bun Kabab. 

 PREPARATION TIME: 20 mins        COOKING TIME:40-45 mins   SERVING: 6

INGREDIENTS

For Kabab (Patty):
Split Bengal gram 1 Cup (Soaked for 1 Hour)
Boiled Mashed Potatoes 3 
Ginger 1/2 inch
Turmeric powder 1/4
Cloves 3-4
Button red chilies 3-4
Black peppercorn 3-4
Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
Fresh coriander & Mint leaves 1/4 cup
Green chili chopped 2-3
Salt 1 tsp or to taste
Eggs 2
Water 2 cups

 For Bunkabab Chutney:
Yogurt 1/2 cup
Garlic 1 clove
Salt to taste
Green chili 2
Fresh coriander Handful
Mint leaves Handful

For Assembling:
Ketchup and Mayonnaise
Oil for frying 
Eggs 2
Buns
Patty
Bunkabab chutney 
Onion slice
Cucumber slices
Tomato slices

METHOD

For Kabab (Patty):
  • Take a pot add water,split bengal garam,ginger,turmeric powder,cloves,button red chilies,black peppercorns,cumin seeds, salt and boil until lentil is tender and water is evaporated,let it cool.
  • In chopper,add bengal gram mixture,grind until well combine then add mash potatoes, fresh coriander, mint leaves, green  chilies & mix well. 
  • Now make the round shape kababs (patty) refrigerate for 30 minutes.
For Bunkabab Chutney: 
  • Add all ingredients into blender and blend until well combined and set aside.
  • Heat griddle,add oil and beat eggs well until foamy,dip kabab (patty) in beaten eggs and fry both sides till golden brown medium flame & keep aside.
For Assembling:
  • Take a bun and cut it and warm the buns with very little oil.
  • Spread bunkabab chutney,add fried kabab (patty),onion,tomato,cucumber,ketchup and mayonnaise and cover with the top bun,again fry bun kabab,serve with chutney.
