MUHALLABIA/MAHALEBI (MILK PUDDING) (MIDDLE EASTERN DESSERT)
Muhallabia/Mahalebi is a super quick, super easy, Middle Eastern dessert made with milk, cornflour, sugar, dry nuts, and rose syrup.
PREPARATION TIME: 15 mins COOKING TIME:25-30 mins SERVING: 8-10
INGREDIENTS
For milk pudding:
Milk 1 liter
Sugar 1/3 cup
Milk powder 1/2 cup
Corn flour 1/2 cup
Rosewater 1 tsp
For the rose syrup:
Water 1 cup
Rooh Afza or Jam E Sheeren 1/2 cup
Corn flour 1 tbsp
Dry nuts chopped
METHOD
For milk pudding:
- In a saucepan, add milk, sugar, milk powder, cornflour and mix well.
- Turn on the flame, add rose water, and mix continuously until milk is thick on low flame & set aside.
- Transfer the mixture in the serving bowls, keep in the fridge to cool.
- In a pan add water, cornflour,rooh afza or jam e Shereen mix well and cook on low flame until thick.
- Remove the pan from the heat and pour the rose syrup over the mahalabya bowls.
- Sprinkle dry fruits & refrigerate for 2 hours.
- Serve cold and enjoy :)
